Every year, millions of American workers report having been victims of workplace violence. In 2017, assaults resulted in 18,400 injuries and 458 fatalities, according to Injury Facts®. And the most dangerous of all incidents are active shooters. The Threat from Within addresses the fact that many of these incidents involve current or former employees. There is an integrated people, process and technology answer to this problem that is rarely implemented holistically. Brigadier General Christopher Fowler (RET), who has developed and trained on Active Shooter and Workplace Violence by implementing national best practices recognized by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), explores what we can do before the incident takes place that might prevent an incident and, if an event does happen how we might optimize our processes to address it.
