Operational Privacy and the Security Mission

The presentation will give an overview of the requirements for an operational privacy program for integrated security systems. It will review the lifecycle of privacy risk management; measurement of privacy posture, privacy risk assessment, developing a privacy profile and creating an operational privacy program and its maintenance. Session participants gain an overview of global privacy regulations and frameworks, look at the specific overarching privacy requirements for security and surveillance and how these can be integrated with information assurance and cybersecurity programs. Review current codes of practice and standards that encourage and enable privacy and security by design and how this can lead to efficiencies in operational privacy and cybersecurity. Lastly, the session presenter will look at evolving tools and standards in the service of privacy automation through enabling the managing and self-service of user rights.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify privacy regulations and basic steps that can be taken to reduce privacy risks in the deployment of physical security systems.
2. Review concepts in a privacy risk assessment and the roles of data subject, data controller, data processor with regard to the service provided and its purpose.
3. Implement an operational privacy program and what is involved with set up, operation and maintenance of that program.
