Next Generation Security: The Truths, The Myths, The Future of Fusion Centers and Security Operations

As the digital transformation disrupts physical security as we know it, organizations are re-thinking and re-tooling their physical and cyber security operations. The panel will address what some of what this disruption and transformation looks like. The panel is comprised of security professionals at various stages of building and adopting a fusion center model across different industries. They will discuss common misunderstandings about corporate fusion centers and their role in the future; what corporate fusion centers do and do not do; how security professionals have successfully raised the awareness, garnered executive buy-in, and secured funding to create a fusion center; what are some of the common pitfalls; what lessons can be learned from the panelists’ experiences; and, finally, how do the panelists demonstrate the ROI for fusion centers. Furthermore, they will discuss where the industry is headed and what kind of skillsets the next generation of security professionals will need to operate in a converged model of cyber and physical security environment.

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe future security trends, disruptions, as well as define what fusion centers are and aren't and how they are becoming the next generation of security operations.
2. Analyze the pros and cons of implementing a fusion center and what skills are required for operating them.
3. Create a strategy or roadmap for getting executive buy-in, demonstrating ROI, and securing funding for a fusion center model.
