April 11, 2018, 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM

The Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming omnipresent in our ever-connected world, and represents an emerging area of risk – and opportunity – that both security practitioners and business leaders alike must address today. Smart buildings represent a premier example of this; physical security technology, building automation systems, fire safety, and more, are rapidly integrating to generate a new value proposition. This panel presentation and the corresponding whitepaper will help all stakeholders in buildings and building systems understand both the opportunity and risks associated with connected building systems.  Additional information will also provide a firm understanding in how to best secure these systems to realize the value while reducing the risk.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Recognize the underlying connectivity and automation value proposition for smart buildings.
2. Articulate a realistic view of current threats and business risks associated with smart buildings and building systems - including physical security and life safety, across both the private and public sectors
3. Demonstrate successful methods for bridging cultural gaps and technical challenges between IT, physical security, and facility management organizations.
