Critical Infrastructure (CI) are constantly compromised by the bad habits of the people who are trusted with their management.   Securing critical infrastructure such as, production networks, data centers and cloud infrastructure are essential to the safety and success of all businesses. The responsibility of securing critical infrastructure has expanded to include physical security, information security, IT security, OT security and IoT Security. While today’s headlines and best practices focus on technical solutions to the expanding threats on our horizon - critical infrastructure protection (CIP) is still ignoring the reality that true security involves people, process and technology. This presentation will provide an overview of bad habits and how they introduce risk into the protection of critical infrastructure.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify critical infrastructure and will be aware of how ignored threats to CI can turn into attacks or damage.
2. Establish common mistakes that introduce risk, and understand the dependencies between emerging best practices for protection of Critical Infrastructure (IT)..
3. Determine which standards and best practices can be turned to that will provide a framework for people, process and technology that will mitigate critical infrastructure risk.
