New Unmanned Security Expo Makes its Debut on Heavily Attended Day 1

LAS VEGAS – April 5, 2017 – ISC West opened today with the annual Grand Opening ceremony, sponsored by Allegion. Attendees packed the hall in front of the stage and were entertained by a dynamic performance led by Boom! Percussion. After the confetti cannons fired to signal the Show Floor opening, attendees made their way through the aisles to find the most advanced, innovative, and state-of-the-art technologies from leading vendors.

Business continued throughout the day, with crowded aisles and in-depth conversations about the future of security up until the Show Floor’s closing at 5p.m. Popular highlights on the Show Floor included the new Unmanned Security Expo @ ISC West, which debuted today and consistently saw a steady stream of attendees. The area featured over 30 brand-new exhibitors and buyers who came to check out products, take advantage of educational presentations, and watch demonstrations held in the all-new drone cage located on the Show Floor.

Connected Security Expo @ ISC West was also a popular draw with a variety of manufacturers providing solutions that address the overlap of physical and cyber security. Also, complementing Connected Security Expo was ISC’s first keynote presentation, delivered by FBI Cyber Security Section Chief, Philip Celestini. Celestini spoke to a packed house on the current cybersecurity trends, threats, and the FBI’s response. He provided insight into the increased security risk associated with the Internet of Things.

Rounding out the day was the prestigious SIA New Product Showcase Awards. This year’s Show boasted the highest number of New Product Showcase entries on record, and awards were given in over 30 categories. Claiming the coveted Best New Product Award was CruciaTrak for its Biometric Access Control Solution (BACS), which is the world’s first multi-biometric authentication technology. BACS layers up to four different biometric authentications all into one terminal including touchless fingerprint, iris patterns, vein patterns and facial recognition authentication.

Day 2 of ISC West begins bright and early tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. with the annual Mission 500 Security 5K Run/2K Walk. Participants will contribute to raising funds for the non-profit organization which is dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis.
