In the last ten years we have witnessed the rapid transition from analog to digital recording technologies which utilize all IP cameras. These IP cameras have made it possible to record higher resolution images than ever before by using advanced compression technologies and commercial grade image processors. These high-resolution cameras, coupled with the demand for longer video retention times, have driven the need for an increased amount of storage. This session will outline the types of storage available today and their pros and cons in the context of video surveillance use cases.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Discern the differences in storage technologies and how they impact system choices in video surveillance.
2. Determine which storage technology is best for them or their customers.
3. Create a plan for future surveillance system needs - accommodate for changing technology without having to rip and replace an entire system.
