Industry Converges in Vegas for ISC West

(LAS VEGAS, NV - April 2, 2014) - - - ISC West, the world's largest security industry gathering, kicked off yesterday with SIA Education@ISC. As the sole industry sponsor, the Security Industry Association (SIA) led off the conference with the debut of the SIA Education@ISC program, featuring three full days packed with 75-plus intensive education sessions where many sessions were standing room only. The conference program provides attendees with critical information and insight about the industry's biggest trends and technologies.

Judging for the SIA New Product Showcase (NPS) also took place yesterday. With nearly 100 entries from more than 80 companies, the SIA NPS is a showcase of the most innovative and cutting-edge technologies and products in the industry. Winners in each category, as well as the coveted Best New Product and Judges' Choice Awards will be presented at 3 pm on Wednesday, April 2, in the main lobby on level 2 of the Sands Expo.

PSA-TEC @ ISC also held educational classes today. Included in this year's educational sessions were "The Top 10 Lessons Learned Implementing IP Centric Solutions" and "PSIM 101: Understanding the Core Elements of PSIM."

Other ISC West special event highlights from yesterday included the 11th Annual Alarm Industry Research and Educational Foundation (AIREF) Golf Classic, AIREF's sole fundraising event of the year.

Three events also took place: the SAMMY Awards, Security Sales & Integration magazine's annual salute for the best sales, marketing and installation endeavors; the Security Industry Association (SIA)'s Market Leaders Reception; and the ISC West Kick-Off Party sponsored by Qolsys at LAVO. At the SAMMY Awards reception, six individuals were inducted into the SSI Hall of Fame: Tony Byerly, executive vice president of Security, Diebold; Pat Egan, president, Select Security; Martin Gren, co-founder, Axis Communications; Jim Henry, executive vice president, Kratos Public Safety & Security; Gordon Hope, vice president of marketing and business development, Honeywell; and Peder Kolind, founder, Brink's.

Exhibition Hall Opens Today, Wednesday, April 2

As the largest annual event in the United States for the physical security industry, ISC West commences with the first of two Grand Opening ceremonies at 9:45 am sponsored by Allegion. Featuring cheerleaders from nearby UNLV, the event's theme is "A Salute to Our Industry." A second Grand Opening, "Celebrating the Attendees," will take place on Thursday, April 3.

The sold-out show floor will feature tens of thousands of products, including a close to 200 first-time exhibitors bringing never-before-seen products and solutions to ISC West. This year's ISC West is also co-located with the International Tourism Safety Conference, which is hosted by the International Tourism Safety Association and the Las Vegas Security Chiefs Association.

Another special product feature area will include the Public Security & Safety Expo which draws public security officials from around the world. In addition, to better serve ISC West's growing community of International Exhibitors and address the feedback from attendee buyers, all 2014 ISC West Global Expo exhibitors can be found in the Venetian Ballroom adjacent to the show floor.

Wednesday, begins with "The Great Debate: Use it or Lose it!" at 8:45 am in Room 502. Featuring a panel of security industry experts, this should prove to be a spirited debate that's both an entertaining and informative.
SIA Education@ISC continues with its second day of intensive learning opportunities, and this year's 35th SIA New Product Showcase (NPS) Awards winners, judged by industry professionals, will be announced in the Show Lobby at 3:00pm. This year, there were more than 100 entries. At 4:30 pm, the SD&I Fast50 will honor the industry's most dynamic growth companies in the Show Lobby.

On Thursday, April 3, the day begins with the annual Security 5K Run/2K Walk where close to 400 participants, run and walk to raise funds for Mission 500, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis.

With the success of tools, such as "My Show Planner" kiosks and the ISC West Mobile for smartphones, ISC West has become one of the easiest large shows to navigate. ISC West Mobile sponsored by ASSA ABLOY features educational sessions, special events, show floor locations and an online exhibitor directory and interactive map.
