April 02, 2014

LAS VEGAS - April 2, 2014 - Attendance is well up year over year. Within a few minutes of this morning’s Grand Opening ceremony, sponsored by Allegion, the show floor was bustling with activity as attendees filled the aisles in search of the latest, most state-of-the-art technologies from the world’s largest and most innovative vendors. Amid the buzz of the crowd, people were talking and doing business.

Throughout the day, heavy foot traffic continued, as many exhibitors and attendees alike engaged in meaningful dialog about products, technologies and the industry in general.

“We are in a period significant technological advancement and innovation across the security industry, all on display at this year’s ISC West Show. ASSA ABLOY has received positive feedback from customers and partners alike who are excited about these new products and the opportunities they present to grow their businesses,” said Martin Huddart, president, Access and Egress Hardware Group, for ASSA ABLOY Americas.

"The first day at ISC West was great. It's our chance to give booth visitors their first look at the new Connected Home and Connected Business technologies being showcased in the Honeywell booth. We were very pleased with the energy at the show and with the great interest in our new products,” said Scott Harkins, president of Honeywell Security Products America.

Today was the second day of the SIA Education@ISC which featured the Signature Series session “The Great Debate 2014: Use it or Lose It!” The panel of industry experts discussed the impacts big data, privacy concerns, the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) movement, near field communications (NFC) and other technologies, new entrants into the industry, and other trends will have on security.

The Best New Product Award in the SIA New Product Showcase (NPS) went to Building Intelligence for its SV3-Vehicle product, a cloud or enterprise software application that integrates with local access control, handheld devices, license plate and driver's license readers.  Designed to streamline security operations, SV3 validates the identity of the 3Vs (visitor, vehicle, vendor) for approval of their access onto a campus, into a building, parking structure or loading dock area.

The SD&I Fast50, honoring the industry’s most dynamic growth companies, named American Integrated Security Group, Perimeter Security Group, Securityhunter, Securadyne Systems and A3 Communications as its top five Fast50 companies.

A second Grand Opening is on tap for tomorrow, April 3. Also sponsored by Allegion, the event’s theme is “Celebrating Attendees” and will take place at 9:45a.m. at the main show floor entrance on level 2. The day begins bright and early with the annual Security 5K Run/2K Walk with participants running and walking to raise funds for Mission 500, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis. It will also be the final day of the lauded SIA Education@ISC series, featuring topics covering almost every aspect of security and safety. At 5:00p.m. in Room 802, Security Industry Group LinkedIn members will want to attend the LinkedIn Security Industry Group networking event, sponsored by ISC West.

Also, motorcycle riders want to remember to sign up for the 11th Annual SIA Ride for Education to raise money for the SIA First Responders Scholarship, which provides awards of $1,000 to law enforcement officers and fire-fighters for job-related education and training. The ride starts Saturday at 9:00a.m. from the Las Vegas Harley Davidson store. Riders that need vehicles should schedule rentals early.
