The Antwerp Diamond Center was one of the most secure buildings in the world. With hundreds of millions of dollars worth of diamonds stored in its subterranean vault, it had to be. But on February 15, 2003, a band of skilled Italian thieves subverted every one of the Diamond Center's defenses and made off with a nearly half a billion dollars in diamonds, cash and other valuables. Join Scott Selby and Greg Campbell, authors of Flawless: Inside the Largest Diamond Heist in History, as they guide us through the Antwerp Diamond Heist of 2003. They’ll show us step by step how thieves encountered each successive layer of security and figured out a way to beat it. Such security included a specially secured zone around the building, locked down entrances with metal barriers, a CCTV system, guards, light sensors, heat sensors, vibration detectors, motion detectors; a LIPS brand vault door strong enough to withstand explosions, a combination dial on the vault door, and more. It is a fascinating story that will be sure to inform and entertain!
