ISC Premier Education Series

The ISC West Education Advisory Board is comprised of a mix of visionary manufacturers, end-users (including law enforcement and campus security), integrators and adult education experts including SIA, the Security Industry Association. Board Members are involved in helping shape the curriculum for all job functions and levels and play an important role in helping identify speakers and specific session topics. The goal is to deliver the most meaningful and critical program to the advancement, continued productivity, efficiency and intelligence of professionals across physical security and networking.

Paul Boucherle

Mr. Boucherle is a Certified Protection Consultant (CPC) and Certified Sherpa Coach (CSC) with more than thirty five years of diverse security and safety industry experience including UL central station operations, risk vulnerability assessments, strategic security program design, writer, lecturer, thought leader and pioneer in the security convergence market. Mr. Boucherle has successfully guided top-tier companies in achieving enhanced security using his own Return on Security Investment methodologies. His strategic approach to convergence strategies is reflected in his hands-on experience as a pioneer in the security and technology fields and as founder of a security consultancy (Matterhorn Consulting) and a high tech firm (Digital By Design).

Bill Bozeman, CPP, CHS

Bill Bozeman is president and CEO of PSA Security Network, the world's largest electronic security cooperative. PSA members are responsible for over $1.7 billion dollars of electronic security and life safety installations. Mr. Bozeman has 29 years of experience in the security systems integration business and has a successful track record in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments. Mr. Bozeman has served as president of Delta Audio-Visual Security, president of Dictograph Alarm Systems Inc, president of Delta Countermeasures, and vice president of strategic alliances for Pinkerton Systems Integration.

Mr. Bozeman is a graduate of the University of New Orleans and qualified as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) with the American Society for Industrial Security in 1997. In addition, Mr. Bozeman holds Level III certification in Homeland Security.

Throughout his career, Mr. Bozeman has directed sophisticated electronic security projects for corporate America, the U.S. government, and private institutions. In 2005, he was inducted into the Security Integration Hall of Fame, a lifetime achievement award that recognizes those individuals whose distinguished careers have helped shape the electronic security industry. In 2006, Mr. Bozeman was recognized as one of the security industry’s 25 Most Influential Security Executives.

Mr. Bozeman currently serves as chairman of Integrator Support LLC as well as chairman of PSA Distribution. He also serves as a director for SureView Systems, the Security Industry Association (SIA), Security Sales & Integration, and Home MD.

Arminda Valles-Hall is the director of Education and Training for The Security Industry Association. With an extensive background in educational program development, volunteer management and strategic relationship building, Valles-Hall is poised to help SIA enhance and grow its education and training initiatives. Previously, she served as the education officer for a professional society dedicated to enhancing the skills and knowledge of research administrators around the world. Valles-Hall also directed the operations and curriculum development of an education center that helped Washington, D.C.-area nonprofit organizations increase their managerial and operational capacities and efficiencies. A native Californian, she currently makes Arlington, Virginia home with her husband, Len, and five-year-old son.

Robert Hile

Rob Hile's role is to manage the day to day operations of the Security Business Unit at Siemens as well as expand the Enterprise security solutions business by leveraging his 22 years of experience in the security industry with the strength and delivery capabilities of the Siemens brand. Over the course of his more than 20 years of experience in the security industry, Hile has given his attention to numerous high-profile government institutions including the Transportation Security Administration, the General Services Administration, the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy and many fortune 500 organizations. Government and commercial customers alike reap the benefit of his expertise in integrated building security plans, CCTV and access control systems, and the convergence of IT and physical security systems. Prior to joining Siemens, Hile was Vice President, Business Development for Adesta, where he managed a sales and marketing team focused on the development of innovative, flexible and cost-efficient integrated communication networks and electronic physical security projects worldwide. Hile has also held senior management level positions with Convergint Technologies, GVI Samsung and TAC-Americas.

John Hunepohl

Director of Education

John Hunepohl, PSP, is Director of Education for ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions, overseeing the education, training and certification programs for the company and the company's customers.

He has been an active volunteer for SIA educational programs and is currently the Vice-Chairman for the SIA Education Committee.

Mr. Hunepohl began his security career in 1968 as a certified locksmith in Antioch California. He has also held various positions in wholesale distribution and manufacturing for companies supplying a wide range of security products including locks, access control, biometric, CCTV, alarm monitoring and accessories. He was National Sales Manager for Checkpoint Systems ACPG as well as project manager for the first Checkpoint released Windows based electronic access control software in 1995.

After ASSA ABLOY acquired Indala from Motorola in 2002, Mr. Hunepohl became National Sales Manager for the company until being tasked with starting the Integrated Security Specialists Group for ASSA ABLOY Americas in October, 2004.

Mr. Hunepohl has been a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) since 1980. In 2003, he was one of the first to obtain his ASIS Certification for Physical Security Professional (PSP).

John Hunepohl, PSP has more than 40 years of experience in the security industry. He is a member of ASIS International, Security Industry Association (SIA) and Door Hardware Institute (DHI) and serves on educational committees as a volunteer in order to improve the education and training of our industry.

David Kraus

David Kraus is the Director of Security at Impax Laboratories, a pharmaceutical manufacturing company based in Hayward, California. David has worked in security management for over twenty years, primarily in industrial and healthcare security. Prior to his current position David served as the Director of Security for the Northeast Bay Area of Kaiser Permanente Healthcare (Northern California). Previously David also spent five years as the Director of Security, Parking and Transportation at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida. Additionally, his experience includes positions as the Manager of Corporate Security at Quaker Oats Company in Chicago and employment as site security manager for Abbott Laboratories in Dallas, Texas. David is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and is a member of A.S.I.S., IAHSS, NADDI, and the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering. David lives with his wife and sons in Northern California.

Fredrik Nilsson

General Manager

Fredrik Nilsson is the general manager for Axis Communications with responsibility for the company's operations in North America since 2003. In that time, he has helped the company increase the revenue five fold and has been instrumental in leading the industry shift from analog closed circuit television to network video.

Mr. Nilsson also serves on the SIA (Security Industry Association) Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He is a trusted industry speaker and has spoken at more than 20 conferences, including the keynote address at TechSec Solutions. He has spoken at influential shows such as Securing New Ground, ASIS Emerging Trends in Security, ISC West, ISC East, and Interop. Mr. Nilsson has been in top publications such as The New York Times, USA Today and the Washington Post. He has also appeared on television shows such as CNN Headline News, CNBC's Wake Up Call and the Fox News Channel's Fox & Friends. He has written articles for, and been quoted in, many publications in the security industry, including Security Magazine, Security Management and Security Systems News. He is also a regular columnist for SecurityInfoWatch.com, and has authored a book Intelligent Network Video published by CRC Press.

Prior to working for Axis, Mr. Nilsson served as a product manager for ABB, a global leader in power and automation technologies.

A graduate of the Lund Institute of Technology, Mr. Nilsson holds a master's degree in electrical engineering, which he followed up with post-graduate studies in economics.

Steve Surfaro

Steve Surfaro is Axis Communications Strategic Channel Manager and Security Industry Liaison. He works with end users, consultants, telecom providers and systems integrators to achieve successful Network or SaaS-based video applications. Prior to Axis, Steve served as group manager and strategic technical liaison at Panasonic. Prior to that Steve was an account manager at Wells Fargo Alarm Services.

A regular contributor to numerous industry forums and blogs, Steve has been quoted and published in many Infrastructure, Safety and Security-related publications such as Access Control, Security Director News and Security Products.

Steve recently completed a significant contribution to BICSI's CCTV and Integration Chapters for their upcoming Electronic Security Manual. Steve holds a bachelors degree in engineering from The Cooper Union.
